Open to Health
«Open to Health (O2H)» was a collaborative initiative between the European University Institute (EUI) and the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia
Overview
This project aimed to provide executive training in health governance and crisis resilience, particularly for professionals in low- and middle-income countries. Funded by the Open Society University Network (OSUN), the program offered a pathway to a postgraduate certificate, including academic credit points.
As a training associate based at the Universidad de los Andes, I participated in this project, which focused on enhancing professional knowledge and competencies related to public health systems’ resilience. The project delivered training across various governance areas and established a global network to promote health equity and improve population health and well-being.
The training program included intensive workshops, online courses, and practical exercises designed to strengthen systemic preparedness in managing public health emergencies. The comprehensive curriculum covered key topics such as health crisis management, governance frameworks, and policy development, tailored to the specific needs of the participants. Participants included students from countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Bangladesh, India, and more. One of the notable courses was a 4-day residential training in Florence on «Global Health Cooperation and Diplomacy,» co-organized by the EUI School of Transnational Governance and Universidad de los Andes.
